Remember you mom said if you have nothing to about something, then don't talk about it at all? This is definitely one of the worst scores I have ever heard. There is absoultely nothing that you can love about this score. You probably cannot imagine that this is by the same guy who composed the excellent theme to "The Last Star Fighter." It is okay that he used the original theme (composed by Charles Bernstein) only a few seconds in the score. But he did not compose any new materials. All he used are some random electronic sounds. A high school music teacher could probably compose something better than this. You may say it is because of the low budget, but I have heard some very good low budget scores. Enough said about this score. Now it's time for some interesting trivia. As some of you know, this Freddy guy lasted for 7 movies (and possibly an eighth one). And the interesting thing is that it also takes 7 different composers to compose the music. They are Charles Bernstein, Christopher Young, Angelo Badalamenti, Craig Safan, Jay Ferguson, Brain May, and J. Peter Robinson respectively. It's also rumored that the eighth movie, if there will be one, is going to be scored by Harry Manfredini. I am sure this is some record in film scoring industry. If you are talking about a grade-A series, the Aliens series does have the same situation. But it is certainly no match with the Nightmare series. | |
