Composer: Joel McNeely

One of the earliest scores of McNeely. If I have not mistaken, this is the first McNeely score that got released. Although the film is not any kind of major film, the score is surprisingly enjoyable. When you look at the track listing, we can see that there are a lot of short tracks and some classical music between McNeely's music. However the album flows very well and I don't think they are incoherent at all. I did not look at the track listing the first time I was listening to the album. They flow so well that I thought that every track was by McNeely! The theme for Samantha is extremely beautiful. It's warm and vivid. Since Samantha plays violin in the movie, the score is more strings oriented. Nonetheless, "Samantha" and "End Credits" are some nice full orcestral pieces. In "Video Nuisance", McNeely introduced a new fast paced and joyful violin theme. It is my favorite theme in the album. Unfortunately, it appears only twice. The album is melodic through out (with a few very brief sad moments). Again, the only bad side about the album is its length. Only 22 minutes of McNeely's score really is not enough. Nonetheless, a very nice orchestral comedy score that one should try. | |
