Before I got this CD, I had Music For A Darkened Theatre Vol.2 already and I did not like the music from To Die For very much. Knowing this album would give me only 8 extra minutes of the music, I hesitated for a while in getting this CD. But being an honest fan of Elfman, I bought the CD finally. I don't know if it is because of the 8 extra minutes of music or Elfman's music just sounds better each time. I find myself start to like the score. The score contains substantial amount of electric guitar and bass, and synthesizer. The score is not very melodic but it is catchy here and there. I guess the style is traditional Elfman dark plus a little rock. The best track is "Suzie's Theme", it is extremely catchy and playful. Also the use of female vocal in the score is excellent, as usual. In general, it is not a very special score from Elfman. Nonetheless, it is quite enjoyable. As a Varèse Sarabande CD, it has exceptional amount of pop songs. To my surprise, they are all very enjoyable except Nailbomb's Wasting Away. I always listen to those songs after finishing Elfman's score. Therefore, it was not a bad buy for me at all. | |
