Original Review for the 1997 Release This is a very satisfying album in general. Although most of the soundtracks fans (especially Arnold's fans) thinks that k.d. lang's "Surrender" is better than Sheryl Crow's "Tomorrow Never Dies" as the title song, "TND" is still not a very bad song. Arnold delivers a score that is suitable to combine with the on-screen action and listen to it alone. The original James Bond Theme is effectively used throughout the score. Arnold also composed a new John Barryish James Bond action theme. The result of combining it with the original theme is excellent. He has also composed a love theme. Although it is not that memorable, it is still beautiful. Most of the tracks have a nice symphonic sound. The trumpet notes are really "FLYING" in this album. The music for "Backseat Driver," one of the most enjoyable scene in the movie, is combined with a heavy disco-beat and it is equally enjoyable and effective. As some of you know, this album contains only the music from the first half of the movie. Mr. Arnold certainly wants a Vol.2. However, there is still no definite words about releasing Vol.2. | |
