"Twilight Zone II: Problems, Aliens and Death"
Part Three
(Int. Exam Room 3. Donner is sitting on bed, and Jenner is sitting on a chair. Weaver is sitting on a
chair opposite where Jenner is. She is holding Donner's hand.)
Weaver: There. That should take care of everything.
Donner: (takes hand and looks at it) Thank you, Dr. Weaver. That thing has
been bugging me ever since we left the Quadremine Sector. (glares at Jenner)
And somebody got us lost.
Jenner: Don't blame me. I didn't decide to take a left at WendaFive instead of a
right. That was all your doing.
Weaver: Well, it's a good thing you landed here on Earth. You got the best care
anywhere in the Universe.
Donner: (smiles at Weaver) Yeah. I guess you're right. I thank you again.
Jenner: But what about our ship?
Weaver: Let me take a look at it. I might be able to do something about that too.
(smiles)
(Jenner, Donner and Weaver leave the exam room, and head towards the elevator.)
Jenner: You know, Dr. Weaver, we can fix your leg.
Weaver: It doesn't need fixing. It works just fine.
Donner: Then why do you use the crutch?
Weaver: It's a mystery even I don't understand.
(Donner and Jenner look at each other. The elevator doors open, and they all step inside)
(Int. Hallway. Doyle and Hath are sitting on chairs in an empty hallway. They are holding hands and
facing one another.)
Doyle: Carol. There is a reason I brought you up here.
Hath: So we are not having sex.
Doyle: (smiles) No. There is something I have to tell you.
Hath: I could see it coming from a mile away.
Doyle: You knew?
Hath: That you're an in-the-closet heterosexual? Of course. I see the way you
stare at Mark every time he talks to me.
Doyle: It's that obvious, huh?
Hath: It's okay, sweetheart. I had something to tell you too.
Doyle: I could see that coming like a freight train.
Hath: It's that obvious?
Doyle: (laughs) I knew you couldn't stay away from Doug Ross for more than a
week. And you say he's a sap.
Hath: Hey! I'm a strong, independent woman. . .
Doyle: (interupts) Who's in love with a sweet yet sappy man.
Hath: Yeah. I'm hopeless. Mark was right.
Doyle: Mark is always right.
Hath: You notice that too?
Doyle: That's why I like him so much.
Hath: You do know that he isn't one to commit.
Doyle: Of course I know that. And who said I was?
(Hath laughs and smiles. They share a look of knowing.)
Hath: You do know that you'll be known throughout the ER as a "failure from
the King-of-One-Nighters".
Doyle: Yeah. But who says I won't get rid of him first.
(Int. Admin. desk. Lewis is cuddling Little Chloe in her arms. Enter Michael Jackson.)
Michael: Hello Susan. Where's my baby?
Lewis: (almost in tears) You're not going to take her away! I love this baby with
all my heart! Nothing you can do or say will take her away from me!
Michael: Stop this nonesense, Susan. You know I can give this baby everything
she needs and desires: money, good food, clothes, an amusement park named
after her, the Elephant Man's bones. Whatever she wants will be hers.
Lewis: She wants her mommie, and that woman is me!
(Benton and Death approach Michael and Lewis.)
Benton: What's going on here?
Michael: I'm here to take my baby back.
Benton: Susan? I didn't know that you slept with Michael Jackson?
Lewis: Neither did I, but apparently I did.
(Death looks at Lewis, then at Michael Jackson, then at Benton, and back to Lewis)
Death: Don't worry, Susan. I have found the man I came here to get. (puts arm
around Micahel Jackson's waist) Come, Michael. You and I need to chat.
Michael: What about my baby?
Death: Oh, don't worry. Where you're going, you will have plenty of babies to
play with.
(They begin to walk towards the front doors of the ER)
Michael: Like an amusement park?
Death: Something like that. (turns back and winks at Benton and Lewis)
(Death and Michael leave through the doors. Benton turns to Lewis, who is holding Little Chloe
with all her might)
Benton: I don't think you'll have any more worries, Susan.
Lewis: Why do you say that?
Benton: Trust me. I think your problems are over. Take Little Chloe home and
spend the rest of the day with her. You both deserve it.
(Lewis does feel better, and smiles)
Lewis: Thank you, Peter. You have a good day too. (leaves)
Benton: (to himself) Now that Michael Jackson has met Death, I think this day
will turn out better than I had hoped.
(Ext. Roof. Jenner, Donner and Weaver are looking the spaceship over.)
Jenner: Do you see what's wrong?
Donner: (from other side of the ship) Nope. Dr. Weaver?
Weaver: I think I know what your problem is. (Jenner and Donner circle
towards her.)
Donner: What is it?
(Weaver lifts her crutch and fwaps it against the side of the ship. Immediatly, the engine inside the
ship starts to purr. Both Jenner and Donner hit themselves in the forehead.)
Donner: Thank you, Dr. Weaver.
Weaver: Just here to help. You have a good flight. And don't get lost again.
Jenner: We'll try. But if we do get lost, mind if we crash here again?
Weaver: Sure. Anytime.
(Jenner and Donner slip inside their spaceship, and lift the ship off the ground. They wave at
Weaver as she waves back. They disappear into the sky. Weaver limps back to the roof entrance.)
(Int. office. Carter is sitting at desk, writing feverishly on papers. Enter Edson.)
Edson: John? (Carter doesn't look up) John, I just came here to say. . .
Carter: Don't go.
(Edson stands, stunned. He doesn't say anything. Carter stands, and steps up to him)
Carter: Please, don't go. (takes Edson's hand) If the difference between you
staying or leaving is me, I'll change, I promise. Just don't leave me. (begins to
get teary-eyed) I've never cared about anyone as much as I care about you. I
know, I've treated you horribly, but I won't anymore. (tears are falling down his
cheeks) Don't leave me. I'm begging you. Please. . . (can't continue, because of
sobbing)
(Edson stares at Carter, in total shock. He takes up Carter's other hand)
Edson: I'm not leaving.
Carter: (looks up) What?
Edson: (smiling) That's what I came in here to say. I'm not going anywhere. I
took your advice and stood up for myself. They said they'll find somebody
else.
Carter: (wipes cheeks) You mean I lowered myself to your level for no reason?
Edson: Yeah.
Carter: I can't believe you let me do that.
Edson: Shut up. (kisses Carter on the lips)
Carter: I hope I'm not starting to rub off on you, Dale Edson.
Edson: You're personality couldn't rub off in the wash, John Carter.
(They kiss again. Carter closes the door to the office while they are still kissing)
(Int. Doctor's Lounge. Ross is sitting at a table with his head down. Enter Hath)
Hath: (softly) Wake up, Doug.
Ross: (picks head up) Oh great, now I'm even starting to hear her voice while
I'm awake.
(Hath walks up to Ross and taps him on the shoulder. He turns around surprised. She takes a seat
beside him)
Hath: You're not hearing things. Or seeing things. I'm really here.
Ross: I thought we were through?
Hath: Naw. I was just testing you. (she gives him an unexpected kiss on the lips)
You passed the test.
Ross: So Mark was right? You still love me.
Hath: Don't you hate it when Mark Greene is right?
Ross: (smiles) Not when it's about how much we belong together. (kisses her)
Hath: Yeah. Me too. (kisses him) So where are we going tonight?
Ross: I was thinking a romantic dinner at home. What do you say?
Hath: Just as long as I get to pick the music. (smiles)
Ross: (smiles back) Whatever you say, beautiful. (pauses, brushing her hair
from her face) I will never stop loving you.
Hath: And, as Mark said, I will never stop loving you either.
(They kiss again)
(Int. Anspaugh's office. Anspaugh sitting at desk. Enter Weaver)
Anspaugh: (looking up) Where did you go off to?
Weaver: I had to help some lost aliens with a hangnail and a spaceship.
(Anspaugh stands and walks towards her)
Anspaugh: Like I said, predictable. Everything here is old. Nothing is new
anymore.
Weaver: Well, what were you up to?
Anspaugh: I met Death.
Weaver: (puts her arms around his waist) Sounds like fun.
Anspaugh: It was.
(They stare at each other. Weaver brings her lips closer to Anspaugh's. They kiss)
Anspaugh: Now that was unpredictable.
(They both stare into each others eyes and smile.)
