Although it may not seem so, THE LIST IS BASED ON A EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE OF THINGS. Newcomers in this months chart: - This list is highly influenced by three movies which have been doing very well lately, "Scream 2", "Titanic" and "Tomorrow never dies". The last of those movies gave us the first newcomer, Michelle Yeoh, a woman who in the role as Wai Lin makes Pierce Brosnan's Bond character look weak. Michelle has done a lot of things so far. She has been Miss Malaysia, she has been working as a dance instructor, she is trained in several martial arts sports and she is one of the most popular action actresses in Hong Kong! Now is that a talented woman or what...? - Speaking of "Scream 2", the second newcomer is Jada Pinkett, who stars in that movie. Up to now, Jada has been more well-known for being Will Smith's girlfriend (and soon if not already wife). It does however look as if that is about to change now and maybe one day people will refer to Will as Jada Pinkett's husband instead... - The third newcomer is an Irish beauty by the name of Andrea Corr. Andrea is one of the four brothers and sisters in the group The Corrs. Her sisters are equally beautiful and talented, but it is always Andrea who gets the most attention. The Corrs second album "Talk on corners" is out now and is less inspired by folk music than their previous debut album. That does however not mean that it isn't as good as the previous album, so why not check it out? - Jennifer Lopez was bound to be included on the list sooner or later, since her recent performances in movies such as "Selena" and "U Turn" hardly could pass by unnoticed. Jennifer is a Puerto Rican hot spice who we will hear more from in the future (I actually mean hear literarily since she will do one of the voices in the new animated movie "Antz"). We will also be able to see her star against the man that many women think is the sexiest man in the world, George Clooney, in the new movie "Out of sight". - The final newcomer has actually been on the list before. It's Sheryl Crow, who sings the lead theme to "Tomorrow never dies". The song has received a nomination for best original song at the Golden Globe Awards so we will see how that turns out... Movers: - As mentioned, the list is highly influenced by three movies. The new number one, Sarah Michelle Geller, stars in one of those movies, i.e. "Scream 2". Sarah is of course extremely popular for her role as Buffy in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" as well, so those two things combined lead to the fact that she was chosen to be the new number one. - The other Scream girls have not been doing all that bad either. We had Jada as a newcomer, Neve Campbell in the second position and Courteney Cox at #4. Considering how the well the movie will do, that is only fair... - Kate Winslet is one of the best young British actresses and it looks as if her leading role in the new catastrophe movie "Titanic" will do wonders for her career. Will she get an Oscar? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. - If Kate won't win, then maybe Kim Basinger will. Her choice to make her comeback as an actress in the movie "L.A. Confidential" has proven to be one of the best decisions she has ever made. Many people think that "L.A. Confidential" is the best movie of 1997. Almost made it into the list (we'll see next month): - Alyson Hannigan and Charisma Carpenter, both co-starring in   "Buffy the vampire slayer". - Ophelie Winter, French singer. - Carmen Electra, MTV's hottest spice... - Patricia Arquette, last seen on a lost highway. - Jenna Elfman, the star of the new ABC sitcom "Dharma & Greg". - Lucy Lawless, the Warrior Princess of New Zeeland. - Sarah McLachlan, musician with an edge. Comments, nominations, etc. are as always welcome. Just remember that a nomination such as "Ms. x should be in because of her big hooters" hardly will be taken seriously. Until next month,   //////////////////// // Mauvaise Honte // ////////////////////
