Although it may not seem so, THE LIST IS BASED ON A EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE OF THINGS. Newcomers in this months chart: - As you probably already have noticed, Kate Winslet is still no 1 on the list. She is not the only Titanic woman on the list any longer now, since Celine Dion who sings the lead theme from the song now enters the list as the best newcomer of the month. Celine has been close to entering the list several times before, so she really deserves her position now when she has a mega hit with "My heart will go on". Plus, the Titanic soundtrack tops the Billboard album chart, FOLLOWED BY Celine Dion's own latest album. Not bad at all... - For those who are totally fed up with the Spice Girls product thing, All Saints are in deed saviors. These four girls from London really has made a break-through with their two hit singles "I know where it's at" and "Never ever" which recently topped the British singles chart. On the Top 50 list, the group is represented by Nicole Appleton. Nic is the sister of one of the other band members, Nat, and is probably the most outgoing person in the band. She is currently dating Robbie Williams, who changes girl friends like T-shirts these days. Anyway, All Saints won two awards at the Brit Awards ceremony and have a new album out, so it will be hard to ignore them in the future... - Angelina Jolie is an up'n'coming actress who has been around for a while now. She is probably most well-known for the fact that Jon Voigt is her father, but that seems to be about to change now. She recently appeared in the TV movie "Gia", in which she portrayed Gia, a supermodel of the 80s who lived fast and died young. Who knows, one day Jon Voigt may be presented as Jon Voigt, father of Angelina Jolie... - When Madonna left the list in October last year, I pretty much suspected that it wouldn't be long before she was back again. And, of course, now she's back with a new great single ("Frozen") and a new album about to be released. "Frozen" is probably the best single that Madonna has released in years and it's good to see that she has teamed up with her long-term song writing partner Patrick Leonard again. Patrick co-wrote many of the songs on the last truly classic Madonna album, "Like a prayer", so the new album, "Ray of light" could turn out to be really interesting. - Young and talented, those are perhaps the two words that best summarize what people think of Natalie Portman. Natalie will forever be associated with her big screen debut as a 12 year old in the movie "Leon" (a k a "The professional". Now, four years later, Natalie has left Hollywood temporarily to be a star on Broadway. She can be seen in "The diary of Ann Frank", where she plays Ann, the young Jewish girl who hid from the German Nazis during W.W.II. Soon, you will also be able to see her in the new Star Wars movie, so all I have to say is - may the force be with you... - Inés Sastre is a woman whose name you may not recognize, but whose face you definitely have seen. Inés is the face of the beauty company Lancôme, a job she got after Isabella Rosselini got fired for being too old (something which is pretty lame by the way). Anyway, this Spanish beauty is now concentrating on her acting career and has landed several good parts, mostly in French movies. She's recently made "Le comte de Monte-Cristo" which also features Gérard Depardieu, so she's playing in the big league now... Movers: - Yes, Kate Winslet is still number one on the list. Who else could even dream of deserving to be number 1 right now, when the "Titanic" movie breaks all the records. The big question right now is basically, will Kate win her Oscar? Hopefully, the answer is yes, but that's far from a sure beat... - This year's Grammy awards had very little to do with what really happened in the Music Biz last year, so why even bother to comment on it any further, right? OK, so a few people really deserved their Grammies (Fiona Apple for best female rock performance and Radiohead for best alternative music). - Congratulations to Sharon Stone who got married on Valentine's Day. I guess the Basic Instinct girl is quite romantic after all... Almost made it into the list (we'll see next month): - Jennie Garth, who plays Kelly in Beverly Hills 90210. - Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, yet another beauty from the same show (but about to leave it). - Claire Forlani, perhaps most well-known as one of the "Mallrats". - Rachael Stewert, TV host of Black Entertainment Television's "Planet Groove" and "Caribbean Rhythms". - Kari Wuhrer, the princess of B-movies in the 90s. - Gabrielle Reece, model and sports woman. - Inés Sastre, hot Latin spice. - Jenna Elfman, the star of the new ABC sitcom "Dharma & Greg". - Kellie Martin, teen star now pursuing an academic career(?). - Anne Heche, Ellen DeGeneres' most precious property (just kidding). - Geena Davis, combining brains with beauty can never be a bad thing... - And of course, any of the supermodels featured in this years Swimsuit Edition of Sports Illustrated... Comments, nominations, etc. are as always welcome. Just remember that a nomination such as "Ms. x should be in because of her big hooters" hardly will be taken seriously. Until next month, / Mauvaise Honte
