Although it may not seem so, THE LIST IS BASED ON A EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE OF THINGS. Newcomers in this months chart: - Louise Nurding used to be the only white girl in british R&B group Eternal, but then she left and started her own solo career. She recently appeared on MTV Europe and gave us all her bright charming smile for several days in the show 'Hanging Out'. - Kate Winslet is a british actress who has gotten her big breakthrough in Emma Thompson movie 'Sense' and sensebility'. She is becoming more and more popular now, so it makes sense to include her on this list now. - Julia Louis-Dreyfus is the real jo-jo of this list, dropping in and out several times this year. This time she came back because she got her well deserved Emmy for best actress in a comedy series after having being nominated for several years without getting it. - Sheryl Crow has recently made a comeback with a new album which was released just days ago. Her image has improved now, she looks a whole lot more like a 'femme fatale' and that is an interesting change considering that she used to look so down to earth before. Movers: - The new number one is actually the first number one ever on this list to return to the number one spot after having been away from it. Who, if not Alanis Morissette would be capable of doing that right now? Alanis 'Jagged Little Pill' album is the best selling album in the world in the last 12 months time and more and more people discover her all the time. Alanis did also recently receive two MTV Video Music Awards. - If you haven't seen 'Party of five' yet, I strongly recommend that you start doing so, since it is one of the best series coming from the US in the last ten years or so. Since the american ratings aren't as good as they should be, the series is always risking getting cancelled, so it needs your support. You can find both Neve Campbell and Love Hewitt on the list and in this series. - Smashing Pumpkins and their base player D'Arcy really made a strong comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards, after all the drug problems and the death of help keybordist Jonathan Melvoin. They picked up no less than 7 awards and can hopefully now start concentrating on their musical career again - Ashley Judd continues to climb up the list and is getting more and more attention now. Way to go, Ashley! Almost made it into the list (we'll see next month): - Greta Scacchi, who recently won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a miniseries or special for her role as Alexandra in 'Rasputin'. - Jamie Lee Curtis, who just has finished the second(!) shooting of the sequel to 'A fish called Wanda'. - Natasha Henstridge, if her new movie 'Maximum risk' will do well for her. Comments, nominations, etc. are as always welcome. Just remember that a nomination such as "Ms. x should be in because of her big hooters" hardly will be taken seriously.
