Pictures from Plitvice

On the way back from the beach we also stopped at Plitvice National park. It's a big place, but we only had time to see the big waterfall there. One level of the lake is very large, and a ferry runs across it. The part of the lake leading down to the waterfall has many cascading sections, so you have to walk for about half an hour each way to get to the waterfall. Along the way there are lots of little waterfalls to see.

There's a path running next to the lake so you could get to the area with all the waterfalls. About a half hour walk.

We saw a snake in the water near the shore.

That's me standing in front of the lake we just finished walking around.

More waterfalls. Lots of these.

More waterfalls. With a digital camera you just take lots of pictures.

Here's a place to sit.

It's hard to get the whole waterfall in one shot. This is the bottom.

Looking right across the water.

The walkways there would never pass here in the states. You'd need rails and fencing to keep kids from falling in. I think the Croatian way keeps the scenery nicer though.

On the way back we took a boat instead of walking ....

A look across the lake at something submerged in the water. Not sure what it was, looked like a track or something.

Lots of fish in areas where people might throw crumbs to them.

There were little waterfalls cascading down right next to the paths we walked on.

I just loved the color of the water.

Many peaceful scenes on the way to the big waterfall. Not a lot of places to sit down though.

Aaaayyy, we're at a big waterfall now.

And here's the top.

A map. You can see the elevation really drops. That means going back is all up hill!

The Americans pose for the camera.

A boat like this one.
