Oliver Reed was a truly exceptional actor. I was saddened to hear of his death. My only hope is that where ever he is, he is content, because he should be very well.

As you can tell, I just love the Richard Lester version of The Musketeers. Oliver Reed was born to play Athos-- no one has ever done it so well.

I would just like to thank the lord for giving us such a fine actor. I have never met Oliver but it feels like I had known him for as long as I remember, and if we never forget him he will never die.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. God bless you Oliver and keep you.sweet dreams.

When I grow up I will be a greencoat too. Arrr, I say, Oliver Reed was a true man's man. Would have loved to had a "test of strength" with him, but that will have to wait for the pub in the sky.

This site is most cool. Life is a manly game but I play it anyway. I'm just too hung over and grumbly to say anymore, 'cept The Who was pretty damn good in Tommy too, eh?

Thanks for the site and the great picture posted.

Re: Quotes

Just a quick comment regarding Mr. Tarantino's choice of words when commenting on Richard Lester's The Three Musketeers.  In his critique of Oliver Reed, Mr. T. writes the following:

"Oliver Reed is just fucking GOD in this movie."

What can I say? As I came upon these words, I literally winced with disgust.   Where does one start in explaining to Mr. Tarantino that his choice of words not only brings into question his own credentials for critiquing another artists achievement, but cheapens the very subject matter  which he is addressing?

Not being a particularly religious person myself, I won't even begin to raise the issue of,  dare I say, the "insensitivity" of  placing the word "God" next to such a common vulgarity.

One has to wonder, if Mr. Tarantino grasps the underlying assumption that anything of quality, be it an actor's performance, a director's pictorial accomplishment or a webmaster's website, is not something that is created without careful attention paid to the building blocks of what is being created.

In Mr. Tarantino's case, the words he uses are the building blocks upon which his commentary is built.  Use the wrong words, and the whole structure is jeopardized.

One day I shall die and, hopefully, go to heaven. Upon arrival I will find Ollie, arm-wrestle him and take him down the nearest pub to heaven and buy him a pint. Every time I see a fight, someone on the beers or someone chatting up a bird a small part of me thinks of Ollie and says, 'Excellent'.
