Docking port - When Kim and Zio are able to climb up the chute, at the top Kim finds some sort of docking port that leads to space; he believes they could get out of the prison by surprising the ship that comes to drop off prisoners or food. (The Chute)
Force field - A force field prevents the inmates from climbing up the chute to escape; Kim is able use the pipe and its loose wiring to rig a device to short out the force field of the chute so that they he and Zio can get into the tube. (The Chute)
Foster - Female crew member on Voyager; Foster takes Vel to Chakotay so that he can upload the coordinates and codes of the Maximum Security Detention Facility. (The Chute)

Manifesto - Zio has written a manifesto of his insights, reasoning and evidence regarding the purpose of the clamp; he tries to get Kim to read it. (The Chute)
Maximum Security Detention Facility - This is the Akritirian prison where Paris and Kim are being held; the inmates believe that the facility is 300 meters underground, but the prison is actually some sort of space station; Janeway gets the location and shield codes of the facility from Vel; they use Neelix's ship to dock at the prison and rescue Paris and Kim. Navigational array - Neelix pretends that his navigational array is broken in order to explain why he is docked at the Maximum Security Detention Facility; he asked the Akritirian Patrol if they could recommend a respectable establishment where he could have his array repaired. (The Chute)
Open Sky - This is the name of the terrorist group on Akritiri; Liria suspects that the group has off-world conspirators such as Voyager; Piri and Vel are members of the terrorist group; Piri says that one day this group will lead the legitimate government of Akritiri. (The Chute)
Paralithium - Paralithium is used as a fuel for certain ion-based propulsion systems; it can be converted into trilithium; Voyager looks for ships entering and leaving Akritiri space that use paralithium as a fuel so that they can find out who was responsible for the bombing; they track down an Akritirian freighter and determine that the explosives were produced aboard that ship. Patrollers - Paris and Kim were accused of killing 47 off-duty Patrollers during a bombing. (The Chute)
Pipe - Paris finds a pipe when he and Kim search the prison; he thinks that Kim might be able to use the pipe and its loose wiring to rig a device to short out the force field of the chute long enough for them to get into the tube; Paris is stabbed by Pit when he refuses to give up the pipe to him; Paris takes the pipe apart in his delirium which causes Kim to turn on him and start beating him with it. Piri (Rosemary Morgan) - Akritirian female; she and her brother are part of the Open Sky terrorist group; she is 14 years old; she says that they know where the Maximum Security Detention Facility is located. (The Chute)
Pit (Ed Trotta) - One of the prisoners in the Maximum Security Detention Facility; he tries to "claim" Kim when he comes down the chute; later he stabs Paris in the stomach when Paris and Kim refuse to give up the pipe. (The Chute)
Population control - Zio says that the clamp is a method of prison population control; it keeps the prisoners from cooperating with each other so that they will kill each other. (The Clamp)
Shield codes - Vel gives Janeway the shield codes of the Maximum Security Detention Facility so that Janeway will release him and his sister. (The Chute)
Trilithium - Liria says that the explosive used in the bombing was trilithium and that chemical traces of it were found on Paris's and Kim's hands and clothing; there is no source of trilithium in the Akritirian system; Liria believes that Voyager is collaborating with the terrorists since Voyager is powered by dilithium which can be converted to trilithium. Vel (James Parks) - Akritirian male; he and his sister are members of the Open Sky terrorist group; the explosives used in the bombing of the Laktivia Recreational Facility were produced aboard his ship; Janeway detains Vel and his sister and intends to trade them for Paris and Kim; Vel gives Janeway the shield codes for the Maximum Security Detention Facility in exchange for letting him and his sister go. Zio (Don McManus) - One of the prisoners in the Maximum Security Detention Facility; he has been in the prison for 6 years; Zio lets Paris and Kim stay in his shelter in exchange for them taking him with them when they escape; Zio has written a manifesto of his insights, reasoning and evidence regarding the purpose of the clamp; he doesn't seem to be affected by the clamp; he throws Paris and Kim out of the shelter when Kim refuses to kill Paris.
