Her nails have been done; now she's getting a pedicure. She looks out the window. Something at the bank across the plaza catches her eye and suddenly she's flying out of her chair, hair in rollers, putting on her boots--there goes the toenail polish! She dashes across to the bank with a smock still tied around her neck. Beneath the smock is a .357 magnum, with which she proceeds to blast away at four bank robbers, killing one and wounding three--but she did ask them to come quietly first. That's a roughly typical scene in the life of Katy Mahoney, a plain-clothes police detective, and now you know why the critics have dubbed her "Skirty Harry", a reference to Clint Eastwood's trigger-happy cop movies. This is a limited-run series, but if it gets good ratings, ABC will surely find a place for it on the regular schedule. We know someone who's keeping her toe's crossed. 1.
