Taken at Lake Merritt, Oakland, CA some years ago. Small sailboats race
on a regular schedule at numerous local sites. The paddle wheel
sightseeing boat made regular trips around the lake and was popular with
those not competing--family and friends of the racers.
Next to it is a picture of the watercolor created from the photo by Historical Arts Studio. Thank you. By the way, the painting is copyrighted and not to be downloaded.
Cinerarias are in bloom
Left: Shopping on Taraval St. near home--7 Eleven, mainly.
Right: The Lucky grocery store--a large parking lot with the big Lucky
and many small shops surrounding it. The Bank of America has a branch
inside Lucky; Safeway has Wells Fargo.
A little park at the west end of Sigmund Stern Grove--a place to rest
along the way. A scene from 'Streets of San Francisco' was shot here one day.
The site finder did not know that this deceptively quiet spot was the main
route to the grocery store and had his hands full directing traffic. I
stopped and watched for a bit. They did the same scene seven times--the woman
detective, who I think was Carol Rosen, shot a young man who rolled down the
grassy hill into the park.
Left: This scene was taken at high noon. This is outside my house and
that little blue spot at the end of the street is the Pacific Ocean.
Right: From my back window--the sun sets over the Pacific.
