Entertainment Tonight visted the set of Jonathan's upcoming film The Odd Couple 2 on Friday, July 11. Unfortunately, Jonathan wasn't shown during the segment, but Entertainment Tonight announced that the film will be released in April 1998. Filming for The Odd Couple 2 began in June.

Jonathan's 1995 film, French Exit, was released on video July 29. Go to your local video store and rent it!

Jonathan was interviewed by Martha Brockenbrough for the April edition of "One Click Away", a guide to the Internet which features weekly and daily Web picks, games, Internet commentary and celebrity interviews in which they are shown Web sites and their comments are recorded. Jonathan appeared on the cover of the June 1997 issue of "Entertainment @ Home" magazine. The magazine features a great article about Jonathan that includes some excellent photos and information about Jonathan's experience with the Internet. The article also reveals Jonathan's middle name: Elijah.

Sad news for all Jonathan Silverman fans. "The Single Guy" has officially been cancelled by NBC and NBC has not announced whether or not "The Single Guy" may come back as a midseason replacement next year. Thank you to all who supported the show by sending comments and letters to this web page and NBC. Just when it looked as if Jonathan Silverman would be out of a job as NBC called a halt to "The Single Guy," he's landed the role of Oscar Madison's son in Paramount's sequel to The Odd Couple. Silverman said it's his fourth adaptation of a Neil Simon play -- Brighton Beach Memoirs, Broadway Bound and London Suite are the others -- and he's done three Simon plays. "I'm Oscar's son and I'm betrothed to Felix's daughter," said Silverman. "It's a treat, since I'm playing Walter Matthau's son, and I also played Jack Lemmon's son in HBO's 'For Richer, for Poorer."' On the series front, Silverman's not optimistic about the show's chances to make NBC's fall sked. "I'm resigned to seeing it go away, but you never know," he said. "There are rumors another network might pick it up, and producers are pounding on my agent's and manager's door to develop a new one."

The May 10-16 issue of "TV Guide" (Canadian Edition) features a small photo of Jonathan with Suzanne Pleshette on page 3.

On the May 1 edition of Entertainment Tonight, the day after Ellen DeGeneres' character came out as a lesbian on the TV show Ellen, Jonathan joked that he would have come out as a lesbian too if it would help the ratings of his show.

Reuters/Variety reports that Jonathan is currently looking at movie roles he wants to play. "I'm negotiating right now to do a straight dramatic role and I'm also talking about doing another film," Jonathan says. Jonathan also mentioned that starring in a baseball movie would be especially nice. "I am a baseball fanatic so baseball would be the best action role for me." Jonathan participated in Rock-N-Jock Softball Challenge 8, the eighth annual charity softball game which features teams comprised of celebrities and professional athletes. The event was televised April 5 on MTV, and one highlight of the game included Jonathan running the wrong way after hitting the ball.

Jonathan was the host of the March 25 episode of A&E's "An Evening at the Improv." During the show Jonathan talked about his uncle, Herman Silverman, who had been a stand up comedian in the Borscht Belt. Jonathan also promoted a fake video entitled, "Jonathan Silverman's You Too Can Host An Evening at the Improv."

Jonathan appears in the book "Prime Time Style: The Ultimate TV Guide to Fashion Hits--And Misses" by Valerie Frankel and Ellen Tien. The book, published by Perigee, is currently available at all major bookstores. The book is 12 dollars (17 dollars in Canada) and can be purchased online at Amazon.com Books. "Prime Time Style" features a 1995 cast photo from "The Single Guy", a photo of Jonathan, and commentary about the clothing worn on "The Single Guy".

Jonathan appeared in a brief clip shown on "Access Hollywood" Wednesday, March 5. The clip showed Jonathan commenting about his friend David Schwimmer's new play.

An article about Jonathan and his pal David Schwimmer is now available on the Ultimate TV website. The article, titled "The Single Friends", is an expanded version of the article "The Buddy System" which was published in June 1996. The new version of the article is basically the same as the older version, but it does feature some interesting information that wasn't mentioned in the previous version. The new version of the article states that the producers of "Friends" shot a pilot for an ABC sitcom about married life titled "Couples" which starred Jonathan and Helen Slater. Unfortunately, ABC decided against picking up the show.

Jonathan appeared on the Valentine's Day episode of the syndicated talk show "Pat Bullard." He talked about working with Suzanne Pleshette on "The Single Guy" and gave his thoughts about his 1992 film "Breaking The Rules."

Jonathan was the cover story of the February 2 issue of The Toronto Sun TV Magazine.

The February 4 issue of The National Enquirer features an article about how Jonathan held a $250,000 surprise party to celebrate Ernest Borgnine's 80th birthday.

The January 25-31 issue of "TV Guide" (Canadian Edition) features a 2 page article about famous Beverly Hills High School graduates. The article includes a yearbook photo of Jonathan and a quote from him.
