1984 - 1986, Gimme A Break (NBC)

Jonathan portrayed Jonathan Maxwell for two seasons of "Gimme A Break".

May 11, 1985, "Julie's Birthday" Jonathan Maxwell elopes with Julie Kaniski (Laurie Hendler).

Sept. 14, 1985, (Title Unknown) Julie's husband, Jonathan, forces members of the Kaniski household to talk about Carl's death.


February 14, 1985, Challenge of a Lifetime

Jonathan portrays Stephen in this Made-For-TV movie directed by Russ Mayberry. Penny Marshall stars as Nora Schoonover, a woman who has recently divorced her vicious husband. She begins a new romance with Will (Richard Gilliland), and then her son (Jonathan) turns up missing from computer camp. Nora soon wishes to enter the Ironman triathlon in Hawaii because of the new support she is receiving from her son and new boyfriend. The 140-mile triathalon requires Nora to run, swim, and navigate a bicycle. This film is Jonathan's first major film role. Mary Woronov, Paul Gleason, Bart Conner, Cathy Rigby McCoy, Mark Spitz, and James Bergeson also star.

June 24, 1989, Traveling Man (HBO)

John Lithgow plays Ben Cluett, the sympathetic title character in the Made-For-TV movie "Traveling Man," dircected by Irvin Kershner. At one time, Ben was the top salesman in his territory, but now he's hit a slump. Ben's boss teams him with eager rookie Billy Fox (Jonathan Silverman) in order to snap him out of his slump. Ben takes a liking to Billy until he realizes Billy is after his job. When Ben is at his lowest point, he meets Joanna Reath (Margaret Colin) and falls in love. John Glover is slime personified as the sales manager. Written for television by David Taylor.

March 23, 1992, Neil Simon's Broadway Bound (ABC)

Jonathan appears as Stanley Jerome (who is based on Neil Simon's brother and early writing partner Mel) in his second Neil Simon film. Directed by Paul Bogart, "Broadway Bound" is a poigniant Made-For-TV film about brothers Eugene (Corey Parker) and Stanley Jerome who are attempting to get a career started as comedy writers in 1948. They begin to find success when they use their family as their main source of humor, which leads to chaos. Adding to the chaos are the crises at hand which include their parents' constant quarrelling (brought about by their father's philandering) and a seemingly insurmountable dilemma involving their aged uncle. Anne Bancroft, Hume Cronyn, Jerry Orbach, and Michele Lee also star.

NOTE: This film is available on video. Following its American television premiere, the film was released theatrically in Europe. Jonathan played the role of Eugene in the stage version of "Broadway Bound" in 1986.


July 5, 1993, 12:01 (FOX)

Jonathan stars in this excellent sci-fi Made-For-TV film as Barry Thomas. Helen Slater and Martin Landau also star.

May 11, 1995, Friends, "The One With The Birth" (NBC)

Jonathan appeared as Dr. Franzblau in this episode. Carol is in hospital to give birth. Rachel tries to pickup Carol's obstetrician, Dr. Franzblau (Jonathan). Chandler helps Monica when she gets emotional about having a baby. Joey helps a single mother when she gives birth. Ross & Susan argue over the baby and get trapped in a store room with Phoebe.


July 10, 1995, Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC)

Jonathan Silverman appeared as a guest on this episode of the late night talk show.


September 1995 - present, The Single Guy (NBC)

Jonathan Silverman portrays Jonathan Eliot, the title character of "The Single Guy". The 1995 - 1996 season of "The Single Guy" dealt with freelance writer Jonathan Eliot being set up on dates by his married friends Matt and Janeane (Mark Moses, Jessica Hecht) and Sam and Trudy (Joey Slotnick, Ming-Na Wen). The second season saw Matt and Janeane dissapear, as the focus of the series changed. The 1996 - 1997 season of the show introduced viewers to The Bagel, a hangout for the show's main characters. Shawn Michael Howard was added to the cast as Russell, a law student working at The Bagel. And Olivia d'Abo was added as Marie, a newly divorced English woman who moves into the apartment across from Jonathan. The second season also saw Jonathan Eliot give up his life as a freelance writer in favor of a steady job at an ad agency. November 2, 1995, Caroline In The City, "Caroline and the Folks" (NBC)

MATTHEW PERRY AND JONATHAN SILVERMAN GUEST STAR -- Caroline (Lea Thompson) dreads meeting Del's (Eric Lutes) parents for the first time, and her nerves are further frayed when she mistakes the wrong woman for Del's mother. Also, while waiting for a delayed Del to show up; she and fellow diner Jonathan Eliot (Jonathan Silverman, NBC's "The Single Guy") find they both have something in common. Meanwhile, Annie (Amy Pietz) and Caroline scheme to make Richard's (Malcolm Gets) 30th birthday exciting, but Richard would rather spend a quiet evening at home watching his favorite video. Later, Annie accompanies Richard to the video store and she attracts the attention of video customer Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry, NBC's "Friends"). Andy Lauer, Tom La Grua, John Mariano, Constance Towers, Lou Felder, Jeff Garvin and Elisa Heinsohn also star.

On this program, Jonathan Silverman discussed growing up with a father and grandfather who are rabbis and his start in television acting and his consulting on movies with Castle Rock Entertainment. Grodin and Silverman discuss dating, acting and possible future directing options.


June 17, 1996, David Letterman (CBS)

Jonathan appeared as a guest on this episode of David Letterman.


July 19, 1996, Extra: The Entertainment Magazine (Syn.)

Jonathan appeared on this episode of "Extra" to talk about his opinion of the "Friends" cast requesting $100,000 per episode.


September 15, 1996, London Suite (NBC)

Jonathan appears as Paul Dolby in this Made-For-TV film. Playwright Neil Simon penned this look at the eclectic guests staying at a posh London hotel as they check in, cross paths and cause havoc for themselves and each other. Kelsey Grammar, Michael Richards, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Madeline Kahn and Richard Mulligan also star.


October 1996, Arli$$ (HBO)

Jonathan has a large cameo appearance in this hilarious comedy about sports agent Arliss Michaels. In this episode, Arliss's fantasy-baseball team needs help, so he improves it via insider information. Robert Wuhl and Jim Turner also star.


October 25, 1996, The 1996 VH1 Fashion Awards (VH1)

Jonathan appeared as a presenter at this awards ceremony. About the show's host, Heather Locklear, Jonathan said, "My first reaction to Heather was 'Aah!' Then my girlfriend slapped me for ogling, and my second reaction was 'Ouch!'" (Source: "TV Guide," November 23, 1996)


December 1, 1996, Hollywood Christmas Parade (KTLA)

Jonathan appeared in the "Hollywood Christmas Parade" which was televised live December 1st on the Los Angeles superstation KTLA. Jonathan was featured in the parade with his girlfriend Annalee, and his "Single Guy" co-stars Ernest Borgnine, Shawn Michael Howard and Joey Slotnick.


December 4, 1996, Entertainment Tonight (Syn.)

On Dec. 4th, "Entertainment Tonight" showed a very brief clip of Jonathan attending the premiere of "Kenneth Branaugh's Hamlet" in Beverly Hills. "I'd love to work for Mr. Branaugh and I'd love to do some Shakespeare," Jonathan said. "But Shakespeare's no longer with us, so I don't have to kiss his butt," he joked.


December 10, 1996, Tom Snyder (CBS)

Jonathan made an excellent appearance as a guest on the late night talk show "Tom Snyder" on Tuesday December 10th. Jonathan talked about many aspects of his television and film career, and discussed the "Hollywood All-Stars" charity baseball team he plays on. He also mentioned that when he attends his girlfriend Annalee's concerts (Annalee is a country singer) he is often mistaken for Vince Gill. Jonathan also brought up an embarrassing moment that happened to him during the filming of his 1989 hit movie "Weekend At Bernie's."


December 19, 1996, Entertainment Tonight (Syn.)

Jonathan talked to "Entertainment Tonight" December 19th to end the rumors that "The Single Guy" is cancelled. Jonathan said, "'The Single Guy' show is alive and well and doing better than ever." Jonathan explained that he wanted to end the rumours because, as he told "Entertainment Tonight," "I've been getting these strange phone calls, or friends of mine that I run into say 'Oh man, I'm sorry about your show.'"


December 20, 1996, Entertainment Tonight (Syn.)

On Dec. 20th, during the closing credits, "Entertainment Tonight" asked stars what they were planning to do during the Winter holidays. Jonathan said jokingly, "I'm going to the Carribean!" He then said, "My girlfriend and I are actually going to hop on a boat - and we're gonna hopefully not get sea sick - and we're gonna yacht for a little bit."


December 21, 1996, It's a Wonderful Life (NBC)

Jonathan shared his memories about the film "It's a Wonderful Life" during NBC's special presentation of the classic.


January 12, 1997, The Rodman World Tour (MTV)

Dennis Rodman and guest Jonathan Silverman eat dinner with the Silverman family. Dennis also shows off some of Jonathan's family photo albums.


January 27, 1997, Access Hollywood (Syn.)

The January 27 edition of "Access Hollywood" featured a segment with Jonathan and host Larry Mendte attending the Superbowl.


January 28, 1997, Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC)

Jonathan talked to Conan about staging a surprise party for Ernest Borgnine's 80th birthday. He also discussed his reactions to Pat Boone's new "heavy metal" makeover.


January 29, 1997, The Daily Show (Comedy Central)

Jonathan Silverman appeared on Comedy Central's "Daily Show" to be a part of their infamous 5 questions segment. Host Craig Kilborn asked Jonathan these 5 questions:

2. For which movie did Ernest Borgnine win an Oscar?

February 14, 1997, Pat Bullard (Syn.)

Jonathan appeared on the Valentine's Day episode of the syndicated talk show "Pat Bullard." He talked about working with Suzanne Pleshette on "The Single Guy" and gave his thoughts about his 1992 film "Breaking The Rules."


March 5, 1997, Access Hollywood (Syn.)

Jonathan appeared in a brief clip shown on this edition of "Access Hollywood". The clip showed Jonathan commenting about his friend David Schwimmer's new play.


March 25, 1997, An Evening at the Improv (A&E)

Jonathan Silverman was the host of this episode. Guests included: Arceneaux & Mitchell; Chris Mancini; Gerry Bednob; Sean Keane; Bob Golub.


April 5, 1997, Rock-N-Jock Softball Challenge 8 (MTV)

Jonathan participated in the eighth annual charity softball game which features teams comprised of celebrities and professional athletes. Participants included Jonathan Silverman, Queen Latifah, Roger McDowell, Mike Piazza, Carmen Electra, Bobby Bonilla and Method Man. Van Earl Wright and Chris Connelly were the anchors of the event.
