The following appeared in the November 18, 1996 issue of People Weekly:
"You look at Alicia and think, 'What a young girl,'" says Scott
Kroopf, executive producer of last year's Mr, Holland's Opus, in
which Witt played a shy high school student. "Then she starts
talking, and you realize what an old soul she is." That's
probably because Witt, 21, who plays Cybill's disaffected
daughter Zoey, raced through her childhood on the accelerated
plan. Schooled at home in Worcester, Mass., Witt began reading at
age 2 and recited Shakespeare on TV at 4. At 14, she passed her
high school equivalency exam and headed for Hollywood. Last year
she played Madonna's lover in Four Rooms. She also began her
stint on Cybill-and a second childhood. "Through Zoey, I got to
go to a prom. It's fun to see what the life of a normal teenager
would be like," Witt says. Still, she leaves her castmates in the
dust. "Hey, she's way too smart to play my daughter," says her TV
dad Alan Rosenberg. "Which is in no way meant to insult my son."
