INDEPENDENCE DAY

While sitting here watching the flag blow in the breeze,
It makes me want to fall to my knees.
I want to thank the Lord up above,
For protecting our country with his love.
We have fought many wars and some sons we have lost,
They paid the price at such a great cost.
Some gave their lives for our country dear,
And the rest, what do we do, we pass them a beer.
Well, that is the wrong thing to do,
Hero's should be praised and sent home anew.
Instead they come home wounded and worn,
Their very soles tattered and torn.
Some have wounds that will never get better,
Some have received a "Dear John" letter.
4th of July we celebrate the freedom we have in the U.S.A.
So I would like the opportunity to say,
"Thank you Gentlemen for helping keep us free,
That a prosperous future we might see."
Enough credit is not given to our service boys,
For they have protected our hopes and joys.
To me, 4th of July is a special day,
To honor these boys in a special way.
So join me when July 4 is here,
And give our soldiers a great big cheer .
Because without them we wouldn't be able to say,
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
