He was called The Last Boy Scout in Tinseltown for his earnestness, squeaky-clean persona, quiet determination and choice of goody-two-shoes movie roles. Named NATO/ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow for 1994. Chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people on the world in 1996.

Biography

This fresh-faced former juvenile model established himself in features playing wholesome, regular-guy parts. He earned cash with odd jobs like serving McDonald's burgers to Michael Jordan before making his feature debut in Men Don't Leave (filmed 1988; released 1990). At 17, his boyish looks made him convincing as the14-year-old son of Jessica Lange and object of Joan Cusack's seductions. O'Donnell worked with Lange again in director Tony Richardson's final film Blue Sky (completed 1990; released 1994) playing a nice boy-next-door type. Later in 1991 he was seen again in Fried Green Tomatoes as Buddy Treadgoode then in 1992 his two movies include School Ties and Scent Of A Woman (which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor and the Chicago Film Critics Award as Most Promising Actor of the Year). In 1993 he played D' Artagnan in The Three Musketeer. O'Donnell chose a worthy little film for his next assignment: Circle of Friends (1995), a well-received Irish romance about a campus heart-throb who falls for a good-hearted plain Jane (Minnie Driver). That same year, he emerged relatively unscathed from a close encounter with Drew Barrymore in Mad Love, a teen romance-cum-road movie. Again in 1995 he took the film Batman Forever. Now he joined the highly touted summer sequel, Batman & Robin, as Robin, the hunky young sidekick to the Caped Crusader.
