ARCADIA
Dunedin, New Zealand
19 June - 11 July 1998

A moment from the final scene, in which characters from past and present inhabit the stage simultaneously. Septimus (Edwin Wright) and Hannah (Caroline Claver) read Thomasina's exploration of the second law of thermodynamics, watched by Valentine (Lloyd Edwards) and Thomasina (Serena Cotton)

WOW! Productions has chosen to present Arcadia in the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, a beautifully-designed venue which serves as the perfect backdrop to the play. Tom Stoppard describes the setting as follows:

A room on the garden front of a very large house in Derbyshire. The room looks bare despite the large table which occupies the centre of it. What elegance there is, is architectural, and nothing is impressive but the scale.

WOW! Productions is a collective of professional actors, directors, writers and artists who have worked together in Dunedin since March 1996 to stage, co-ordinate and promote plays, exhibitions, theatrical events, workshops and other artistic endeavours.

The very experienced and talented cast are (back row, from left): Edwin Wright (Septimus Hodge), Hilary Halba (Lady Croom), Patrick Davies (Captain Brice), Barry Dorking (Bernard Nightingale);
middle row: Brian Beresford (Jellaby), Serena Cotton (Lady Thomasina Coverly), Jeremy Elwood (Ezra Chater), Rosemary Orr (Lady Chloe Coverly);
front row: Danny Still (Augustus & Gus Coverly), Caroline Claver (Hannah Jarvis), Lloyd Edwards (Valentine Coverly). The director is Lisa Warrington.
