Emilio D. Estevez, 35, was born on May 12, 1962 in Manhattan to Martin Sheen (Ramon Estevez) and Janet Sheen. Emilio was around 7 years old when his family moved to Malibu, California (where he currently resides). In 1976, he went with his father and brother Charles to the Philippines to watch the filming of "Apocalypse Now", which is when he got his first shot as an acor (unfortunately, his scene was omitted). In high school, Emilio was known for his ability to get along with almost everyone. Emilio was elected prom king - which is no surprise to this fan! In his senior year, he decided he was too small (5'7" & 140lbs) for sports and concentrated on acting (yeah!) Emilio chose to keep the family name (Estevez - instead of his father's professional name - Sheen) because it sounded better and was more romantic. =) Emilio got his feature film break in 1982 when he appeared in "Tex" (a story adapted from an S.E. Hinton novel. He then went on to appear in "The Outsiders" (also a novel by S.E. Hinton), "Repo Man" (1984), & "The Breakfast Club" (1985). At age 24, he was the youngest film artist ever to have the credit of actor-director-writer on a film which makes him a legend.
Emilio has two beautiful children, son Taylor Levi (born in June 1984) and daughter Paloma Estevez (born 1986) to Carey Salley. Paloma makes her acting debut with a little part in the film "The War At Home", Taylor is still waiting to follow in his father's footsteps. =) Emilio dated Demi Moore (who starred opposite him in "Wisdom") in 1984 and was also married (for 2 years) to singer Paula Abdul (divorced in 1994 - irreconcilable differences). He is currently dating, assistant art director, Julie Briggs (whom he has been with for 2 years).
Emilio's most recent film is "The War At Home" (which is on video but very difficult to get). He is also working on a couple of new films, one with Tom Cruise called "Timejumpers", one called "The Last Night" and another called "The Bang Bang Club". (He mentions these films on Amy's Dedication Forum where he has posted a few messages)
Emilio is also an Honorary Board Member of The National Veterans Foundation.
The Estevez/Sheen family is one of the most prestigious star families of our time! This is a family of actors, Martin Sheen (Ramon Estevez), Emilio Estevez, Charles Sheen, Ramon Sheen (Estevez), and Renee Estevez (who also uses the family name). Even Martin's brother Joe Estevez is an actor. Yet, though Emilio was in the public eye, he managed to stay well-grounded and down-to-earth. The most important element in their lives is family, and their family has a very strong and close relationship. The most important value of this family is to stay connected to and supportive of one another. (exactly how I want my relationship with my 2 children to be) =)
