GABRIELLE'S REFLECTION
by Callisto
As I sit here at the edge of this crystal clear gentle stream and gaze upon my
image mirrored in its rippling waters, I am struck by the dramatic change in my
own face. Was it that long ago, when sitting at another pond studying the reflection
staring back at me, that I saw a fresh, young naive woman who wanted to reach out
and take life by its hand and experience it all? Now I see that long locks have
been replaced by a shorter, more practical style, a style more suited for battle
than for barding. Smooth, pink fresh skin has been replaced by a deep tan with
tiny lines which seem to grow by the hour. Bright, eager eyes have become tired
and sometimes clouded with tears. And my scrolls, my precious, beloved scrolls.
What has become of them? They have been replaced by weapons, first an Amazon
Staff and now a pair of sais. Life brings such unexpected change. And now there is
a new life, one that is so very, very special and who has been destined to
completely alter existence as we now know it. So much has happened in such a short
time. I gaze into my liquid mirror and wonder what the future has in store and
I can't help but think that years from now when I look back upon my life will I
ask, "was it all worthwhile"?
