Anyway here are just a few things I wanted to mention....
OK first of all I gotta say that Aphrodite's Temple sure looked like it had all the comforts of a palacial home. LOL I really enjoy the interaction between Dite and Gabrielle. I think Alexandra's excellent Ivy League education showed just a teensy bit there for a moment too. ;) And I must admit that I really want to get a pair of Gab's pink pajamas! Gosh its been so long since I've been to a pajama party! HAHAHAHAHA
Now the fact that Gabrielle was having a bit of writer's block was actually a GOOD thing IMO. Yup I can identify with that feeling all too well. ;) But seriously, it signified to me that the Gab that *I* love is still in there....somewhere. She wanted to write, and even though she couldn't...she WANTED to. Ahhh that warmed the cockels of my little heart. :D
So...using that as a springboard I have to say that the story certainly made sense! Why? Well a writer has this great big imagination you see and in order to make the story work sometimes you need to resort to exaggeration or being over dramatic and so...I really wasn't surprised that big Argo became...little Argo. Oh Gabrielle wasn't really writing that you say? No...but she *was* telling it. ;) And X & G live in a time of myth and fantasy...why *couldn't* it have happened and just like we do when we tell stories...sometimes we exaggerate just a little? ;) ;)
I loved the scenes of Xena trying to prove how she was never cranky...while being cranky. LOL She put old Joxer on the spot more than once asking him if he agreed.
Now I get to the crux of my thoughts here. In a word...Lacrimose. Remember, this was a clip show. Do you think...perhaps...knowing how TPTB are *on to us* and have read our thoughts and comments about the comedy eps...do you think that perhaps "Lacrimose" was supposed to be a representation of "US" the fans? Think about it! He never laughed. Lots of the fans hate the comedy eps therefore it is to be assumed that "they never laughed"...at least in the way that a comedy *should* be laughed at. TPTB have tried on numerous occasions to "make us laugh with comedy eps"...just like Gabrielle and later Joxer tried...unsuccessfully...to make Lacrimose laugh. Hmmm...and then finally...in the end...it took an all out pie fight to get the sour pussed god to bubble up a bit and then he finally began to guffaw with glee...for the first time in his godly life....kinda like what "Lyre Lyre" did for some of us. Now of course TPTB had no way of knowing how we would react to Lyre Lyre when they filmed this episode but perhaps via Lacrimose...they were asking us..."fans, what does it take to make you laugh?" Just a thought... ;)
Well all in all I really DID like this episode...I know that I am one of the very few who hang around the Nutforum that did, LOL but hey...I was always one of the fans that actually "likes" the comedies. LOL
Anyway...for purposes of review i give it 4 fireballs out of 5 (only because I don't particularly care for pie fights, LOL).
