Thanks for your letter regarding the status of Dick Williams' film "The Thief and the Cobbler."
I am indeed very familiar with the film's history, and extremely sad as well about its fate in recent years.
I really wish it could be available to the public in the form you suggest, but i'm afraid the economics of that would be a disaster.
I don't know the status of Dick's final work print (which I saw on video tape a couple of years ago), but by copy of this letter I am asking Harvey Weinstein to ask someone at Miramax to give me that information. I agree with you that it would be sad if Dick's original cut disappeared off the face of the earth.
