A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi
For those like myself who love the original Star Wars trilogy, while at the same time haven't watched or bought a VHS movie since buying a DVD player, the wait can be nearly unbearable as the force is in the air with the release of the special edition as well as the long awaited sequels finally in production.
Currently at the time of this writing, the Star Wars trilogy ranks as one of the most anticipated DVD releases, but actually seeing the trilogy on DVD is not as close to reality as many would like.
However, for those who cannot wait any longer, a VCD copy may be the closest thing we can get our hands on. Fortunately with VCD still strong in the far east, Lucas has graced the format by releasing the special edition box set for the first time ever.
Although not widescreen or as sharp as a DVD connoisseur may desire and obviously without the extras, a decent picture quality (with very little compression noise) and a fabulous surround sound soundtrack, make this a must have for any true fan who just can't wait for the DVD.
