The Abyss
Tracking an unidentified underwater object, a heavily armed American nuclear submarine literally
finds itself in deep water, as caught in the turbulence of this object, it crashes into the
wall of "The Abyss."
On the surface, hurricane conditions growing worse, the army turns to an underwater drilling rig
just over 20 miles away to search for survivors. Sending down a team of navy seals, the rig
under the command of Virgil "Bud" Brigman (Ed Harris) and Lindsey (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio),
heads to the edge of the abyss. Upon finding the sub, they also encounter the strange
underwater objects which leave the crew in awe, but the navy seal team leader, already suffering
from pressure sickness and delusional, paranoid of the nuclear arsenal falling into enemy
hands.
From start to finish, this is an underwater adventure like no other, an adrenaline rush that
pulls you in and doesn't come up for air. One of the finest movies ever made, director James
Cameron delivers a masterpiece that easily floats to the top.
The discs are both single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version of
the movie. The mastering is excellent, as are the many extras.
