Ace Ventura Pet Detective: The Case of the Serial Shaver
Not exactly everything it appears to be at first glance, "Ace Ventura Pet Detective: The Case of the Serial Shaver" features the bizarrely deranged character Jim Carey made famous in a charming and twisted tale. Unfortunately, the DVD suffers due to not only the crude animation, but even more so from a far from interactive story. In fact, even though the disc is labeled as a "Multipath" adventure, the choices given do little more than run small bonus animation sequences, certainly not drastically changing the story's direction.
Although obviously disappointing, young children may find the slightly interactive story and its simple animation amusing. However, the disc's content works against its select audience's age bracket as some of its content gives it a rating recommending it for those over the age of 13.
Parental Note: Sexual Overtones
The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version of the program. The mastering is excellent, but there are few extras.
