The Avengers 1964: Vol.1
Before the days of the greatly adored Mrs. Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), gracing the side of Mr. John Steed (Patrick Macnee) there was Honor Blackman as Mrs. Cathy Gale. Well known for her role in the James Bond movies as Pussy Galore, Blackman delivers hard hitting action as part of the unstoppable Avengers duo.
The White Elephant - Blackman goes in search of some white, a white elephant to be specific. A rare albino elephant gone missing without a trace has The Avengers not far behind as they keep their nose to the ground, sniffing out a not so humane operation.
The Little Wonders - Running a global underground organization under a clerical cover, the head vicars gather in Britain to vote a replacement for their ailing leader. Joining the holy ranks, Steed infiltrates the meeting to learn its secrets while Cathy follows a not so childish lead with an antique doll. In addition to Honor Blackman of Bond Fame, this episode stars Lois Maxwell, well known for her role as Money Penny, gracing the screen as one nasty nurse.
The Wringer - When an old friend of Steed's also in the service of Britain goes missing where other agents had been found dead, he goes in search of him, but when he finds him, he soon finds himself accused by this same man for several murders. Now as far from the truth as the accusations are, Mr. John Steed's sentence may however convince him otherwise.
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original full frame version of the show. The disc mastering is good considering the aged source, but the video is interlaced and there are few extras.
