Cleopatra
A magnificently stunning film of true epic proportions "Cleopatra" starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex Harrison is without a doubt a movie not to miss experiencing. Not only featuring the queen of the Nile's timeless story, wonderful performances, breathtaking sets and gorgeous costuming are truly a feast for the eyes.
Although originally intended to be two separate three-hour films, one featuring Cleopatra (Taylor) with Julius Caesar (Harrison) and the other Cleopatra and Marc Anthony (Burton), in the end we were presented with this wonderful single four-hour film. Though shorter than intended, it still proves itself a lavish masterpiece of film-making, telling the age-old tale of Rome's Power, Egypt's Beauty and the uneasy balance of power they wove together.
On DVD, the film's beauty and richness are only magnified, and with the additional third disc showcasing the amount of work and effort put into the production in two features, this is certainly one film not to miss adding to your collection.
Parental Note: Violence, Sexual Overtones, Adult Situations
The first 2 discs are single sided - single layered and contain the original widescreen version of the movie, while the 3rd disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original full frame version of the program. The mastering is excellent, as are the extras.
