Conquest of the Planet of the Apes
In the year 1991, thankfully quite different from reality, the smell of revolution is thick in
the air. Dogs and cats wiped out by plague, apes have become the household pet of choice, and
with their greater intelligence over their predecessors have become so much more. Now slaves
to mankind, ill treatment and harsh restrictions are common place for the burdened beasts.
The fourth film in the Planet of the Apes series, we follow Caesar, son of Cornelius and Zira,
the two apes who arrived from the future in the third movie only to be killed by fearful
mankind. Continuing to live in hiding , Caesar witnesses first hand the atrocities inflicted
upon his kind and makes plans for revenge.
Dealing with many of mankind's social ills, this excellent film proves highly entertaining, but
a keen eye to the series shows a few inaccuracies, (1) the young apes being called Caesar and
not his original name of Milo also (2) the fact the original leader of apes and the first to
speak was known as Aldo (3) his first words being "NO" and finally the point that (4) it was
to take centuries for the apes to revolt when this movie portrays it as little more that a
couple decades.
Parental Note: Violence
The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version
of the movie. The mastering is excellent, but few are the extras.
Of Note: The French soundtrack is in Mono and not Surround as listed on the packaging.
