Creature From the Black Lagoon
One of the crowns of the creature features, "Creature From the Black Lagoon" has us
journeying with a team of scientists deep into the Amazon in search of the remainder of a
strange age-old skeleton. Originally presented theatrically in 3D using a polarized light
technique requiring two synchronized projectors, the process unfortunately does not lend itself
to video, therefore leaving us with only two dimensions, but just as exciting an adventure.
Having nothing but the skeletal hand of some bizarre creature, the scientists return to find not
the rest of the skeleton but only their two guides left to guard the camp dead, killed by some
creature of the jungle. Believing that the rest of the skeleton may have washed down river,
the team heads in the direction of the Black Lagoon. Here they find more than just as ancient
skeleton, but a living specimen, powerfully dangerous and determined to make them a thing of
the past.
Although it doesn't contain such fearsome faces as Hollywood horror greats Lugosi, Karloff,
Rains or Price, a wonderful story, directing and acting, not to forget a fantastic costume,
propel this movie smoothly along as one of the great monster movies.
Paretnal Note: Violence, Frightening Scenes
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version
of the movie. The mastering is terrific, as are the extras.
