The Hurricane

Based on a true story, this powerful and emotion-stirring movie will open your eyes to the destructive force of hate and the true power of love.

A champion boxer of 60's America, Rubin "The Hurricane" Carter (Denzel Washington) from an early age faced oppression because of his skin colour, but always managed to rise above the hate. Unfortunately for him, a bitterly racist and dirty cop (Dan Hedaya), turns keeping him in jail a near life's work, and in the end succeeds in framing him for murder and getting him life imprisonment.

Now left to be forgotten in prison with any attempts for justice sadly unsuccessful, in a last ditch effort to have his cries heard, he turns to writing a novel. Years later, by wonderful coincidence, the novel finds its way into the hands of a young boy learning to read who immediately delves deep into its pages. Moved by its tale, the young boy joined by a group of his teachers (Deborah Kara Unger, John Hannah and Liev Schreiber), they go to the Carter's aide, opening his eyes to a new ray of hope for freedom.

Truly a marvelous movie, brilliant writing, direction, photography and acting come together on the screen in one unforgettable and moving movie not to be missed.
