James and the Giant Peach
A wonderful tale for the child in all of us, "James and the Giant Peach" takes us on a
magical and musical journey that is sure to amaze. Based on a children's book by Ronald Dahli
(the same author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Tim Burton and Henry Selick bring us an
incredibly unique visual style to the film while Randy Newman shows his superb musical talent,
and actors such as Susan Sarandon and Richard Dreyfuss lend their voices, all combining to give
us a movie going experience like no other.
Following the story of James, a poor orphan raised by his two cruel aunts, he dreams of one day
visiting New York, and after meeting a mysterious man who gives him a bag of magical crocodile
tongues, that dream becomes one step closer. However, when he accidently spills the tongues on
an old tree, a giant peach grows from its branches. As unaware as James is, this is but the
beginning of a great adventure within this giant fruit.
Truly a peachy tale to tell, this film is a stop motion masterpiece, and one that will capture
the imagination of all who watch.
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version
of the movie. The mastering is excellent, but there are few extras.
