Lake Placid

The calm dark waters of Black Lake in the middle of the wilderness of Maine would have been called "Lake Placid" by the locals; that is if the name hadn't already been taken. And how it surely would not have been named so if they knew of the 30-foot crocodile lurking just below the shimmering surface.

Starring the ever-talented Hollywood stars Bill Pullman, Briget Fonda and Oliver Platt, we are treated to what at first might appear to be another B grade action thriller, but what quickly turns out to be anything but. Filled with terrific effects, acting and surprisingly entertaining and humorous writing, the only thing not going for the film is the unnecessary use of course language which stops the movie short of being a great thriller for all ages.

Probably containing, but very likely not the biggest croc you've ever seen, this movie is a fun escape from the norm that will have you looking twice before dipping your toes into unknown water.

The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version of the movie. The mastering is excellent, as are the few extras.
