Marnie
Following the success of Alfred Hitchcock's thrillers Psycho and The Birds, Marnie
returns Tippi Hedron to the big screen after starring in The Birds along with well-known
British star Sean Connery who had just finished the first James Bond film.
With a troubled past, one she doesn't clearly remember but still lives in the shadow of like a
terrible nightmare, Marnie, lost and confused seeks out answers. Finding none though, she
wanders from job to job, feeding a crazed hunger as she waits for the right moment to steal
from her employer before moving on. Trouble though soon catches up with her as she is
recognized by Marc (Connery), a man with his own ideas who decides to play along with her
game. Keeping a close eye on Marnie, Marc against all plans soon finds himself falling madly
in love with her, making the already complicated quite complex.
As Marnie herself battles with good and bad, the movie faces the same contrasts within itself
as acting, camera work, writing and effects are delivered from perfect to poorly. Aside form
its flaws, the movie proves itself a classic piece of Hitchcock cinema that no fan should want
to miss adding to their collection.
