Mighty Joe Young
Orphaned the same evening in the depth of the African Jungles and in the midst of their
childhoods, Jill and Joe would grow ever so close over the next few years. Twelve years later,
they remain closest of friends, Jill now a young and beautiful woman, and Joe a 15 foot
gorilla. It was not an easy 12 years however, as keeping Joe safe from the constant threat of
poachers was increasingly difficult.
Meeting zoologist Greg O'Hara (Bill Paxton) gives a glint of hope for Joe's survival, and away
they are whisked to a Californian animal preserve.
With such a prize on the move, poachers are not far behind, and in an attempt to capture Joe, he
is let loose in the streets of Los Angeles. With his life at stake, it is a race against time
to get to Joe before the authorities.
A fabulous film with wonderful special effects, this is one the whole family will enjoy. The
young ones though, may find some of the scenes a bit intense.
The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version of the
movie. The mastering is terrific, but the extras few.
