The Newton Boys
"The Newton Boys" returns several familiar faces to the screen, the kind you might recognize
from a wanted poster as Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Skeet Ulrich and Vincent D'Onofrio
bring new meaning to family business. The movie takes us a step back in time to the early
1920s to relive the true story of the Newton Boys, America's most successful bank robbers
ever. The four brothers team up with bank explosive expert Brent Glasscock (played by
multi-platinum recording artist Dwight Yoakam), and let you break into a piece of their life
including some of the over 80 banks they robbed from Texas to Canada and America's largest
train robbery.
Both story and actors do a terrific job of taking us back in time to relive a piece of early
America through the lives of the Newton boys. The movie in all seems to carry a good pace
throughout, but lacks the strong climaxes in action and emotions that really captivate the
audience. And so the movie as terrific as it was, seems to move along in monotone, then ends
in simple 'here's where we all went afterwards,' so often found in documentary style films.
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version of the
movie. The mastering is terrific, but the extras few.
