The Patriot
If you like many others thoroughly enjoyed the Braveheart movie, "The Patriot" is one you
will not want to miss. Apart from a different time and place, the similarities are uncanny as
Mel Gibson, in yet another stunning performance, fights off the British in a war for land and
freedom. As a hero and warrior he arises from the darkness of war to beat the odds, taking an
unlikely band of men into victorious battle, giving them a new strength, hope and purpose.
Really the only thing missing was the American front lines mooning those of the British.
Also among the similarities, we are treated to a fabulous film filled with breathtaking
costumes, camera work, action and adventure. In addition, an all star cast including
Heath Ledger, Tcheky Karyo, Chris Cooper, Tom Wilkinson, Jason Isaacs, Joey Richardson and of
course Mel Gibson deliver an outstanding display of command performances, with which they give
the movie an incredible depth and life of its own. So powerful in fact is the movie, it
literally transports us back to the late 1700s, putting us in the heat of battle during the
American Revolution as a young and developing country defends its hopes and dreams for the
future.
Parental Note: Brutal Violence
The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version
of the movie. The mastering is excellent, but there are few extras.
