Shadoan
Enter the magical world of DVD as Rick Dyer, the man who brought us Dragon's Lair, once again
takes us on a mystical journey via cutting edge technology. This time, we enter the land of
"Shadoan," filled with dragons, wizards and hours of top-notch interactive entertainment.
More like something you would only expect to experience on a computer system, Shadoan runs
smoothly on an ordinary DVD video player.
The only drawbacks of the game play are during travel with its repetitious animation as you
pass through the same locations more than once, as well the multiple steps you must go through
at each location making for a constant stop-and-go vs. smooth feel to the game. Unfortunately
the animation isn't quite the caliber of Don Bluth's work on Dragon's Lair, but it would have
been nice to see some longer animated sequences at key points in your travels.
On the plus side, other than a few minor quirks, the game is a big step in the direction of
interactive media and a nice change from much of the mind-numbing shoot-em-up entertainment
so prevalent today.
So with sword in hand, or in this case remote, sit back and prepare to be whisked away in this
truly groundbreaking multimedia experience you are sure never to forget.
The disc is single sided - single layered and of note is also playable on and DVD or DVD ROM.
The mastering is good, but unfortunately the disc only contains DTS and Stereo sound,
with no ability to choose DVD's most popular sound format 5.1 Dolby Digital.
