Star Trek: Original Series: Vol 40
Without a doubt one of the finest sci-fi television series of all time, "Star Trek: The Original Series Vol. 40" features both the first and last to be seen of the show. In addition, the disc features an all new version of The Cage, constructed from the footage of episodes 1 and 16 as well as long lost colour footage thought to have been destroyed, thus making for a must have disc for any fan.
Turnabout Intruder - Episode 79 - In this, the final episode of the original series, Captain Kirk faces his most formidable opponent, himself. Beaming down to Camus II in response to a distress call, Kirk comes face to face with an old love he knew while in the academy. Now filled with jealousy at the achievements of Kirk, Janice uses an alien device found on the planet to transfer into Kirk's body, leaving Kirk trapped in her own, and the crew in for more trouble than they ever imagined.
The Cage - Episode 1 & 99 - The original pilot of the series, an introduction and conclusion by Gene Roddenberry makes this a must see for any true fan. Although most viewers have seen the footage as it was used in episode 16: The Menagerie, the redone version is a treat to see.
Parental Note:Minor Violence
The disc is single sided - single layered and contains the original full frame version of the program. The mastering is excellent, as are the few extras.
