The Thin Red Line
Even though an all-star cast including the likes of Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson and John Travolta join this movie on the front lines, together they don't carry enough firepower to save this film from its own destruction. With a weak story, one you're doing well even to follow, a story that seems to drag endlessly, to the point you begin pleading for it to pick up its pace (which it doesn't), and with a running time of 170 minutes, at about the half way point you are sure to begin wondering if it will ever end.
When it's all over and done with, the only thing truly incredible about the film is the fact it managed to some how miraculously pick up seven Academy Award nominations.
Parental Note: Language, Brutal Violence
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version of the movie. The mastering is excellent, but there are no extras.
