Trial and Error
A newly appointed member of his soon to be father in law's law firm, Charles Tuttle
(Jeff Daniels) is sent off to the small Nevada desert town of Paradise Bluff to settle a family
related court case.
Secretly racing to beat his there, his best man Richard (Michael Richards), a small time actor,
surprises him with a small bachelor party Tuttle nearly didn't get. When morning arrives with
a new day and a new court case, Tuttle is anything but a new man, and in no condition to appear
in court. Richard, thinking nothing of this minor inconvenience, takes it upon himself to fill
the shoes of his friend for a day and ask for the case to be delayed. A simple part for a
simple actor, but when the defense is in no mood to rest, Richard finds himself in for the long
haul, and with the punishment for his brief role playing steep, has little choice but to stay
in character.
From here it's side-splitting humour in and outside the court room as Richard helplessly bumbles
his way through court while Tuttle living the life of his carefree friend, finds himself
falling in love with the hotel help (Charlize Theron). Truly great comedy, there's little
effort or mistake to be made in choosing "Trial and Error" for big laughs and great fun.
