Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea/ Fantastic Voyage
"Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" takes us exactly there and across the globe when after an underwater test of an experimental submarine, designed by a brilliant scientific Admiral of the Navy, surfaces to find the skies ablaze after meteors set on fire the Earth's Van Allen belt of radiation.
In search of a solution, the brilliant Admiral devises a plan to detonate an atomic missile into the belt in the hopes of sending it clear of the Earth. When many sceptics to the plan arise, the Admiral knowing there is no other choice, heads for the required launch location without any consent for plans. Now in a race against time, the submarine sets course for adventure and danger.
A somewhat entertaining tale, we are taken on a voyage of mediocre writing and effects that is topped of by a far from spectacular ending.
"Fantastic Voyage" is just that as a team of scientists are miniaturized along with a small submarine and injected into a human body in the efforts of performing critical brain surgery impossible by conventional means. Unfortunately like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, the ending of the film is it's weakest point leaving plenty of unanswered questions and surely many a disappointed viewer.
Parental Note: Minor Violence
The disc is double sided - single layered and contains the original widescreen version of the movies. The mastering is excellent, but there are few extras.
