Wonder Boys
A times when you look life right in the eye, it rears its ugly face and looks away, leaving you to struggle with the endless obstacles in you way. For writing professor Grady Tripp (Michael Douglas), life seemed like little more than an endless obstacle, and being just so, made just giving up and going along for the ride the obvious answer. However, with a novel well overdue and his editor (Robert Downey Jr.) In town, things begin to reach an all time low with the addition of an escalating drug problem, his wife leaving, his car stolen, his mistress pregnant, a troubled student (Toby Maguire) ending up under his roof and so much more. Now with things only able to get better, Tripp is left to pick up his own two feet and get moving or be left far behind.
A somewhat entertaining film, "Wonder Boys" is saved by some wonderful performances by not only Douglas, Downey and Maguire, but also by Katie Holmes, Rip Torn and Frances McDermand, giving life to the near lifeless.
Parental Note: Language, Adult Situations, Drug Use
The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version of the movie. The mastering is excellent, as are the extras.
