One of the shows that made Anime real popular over
here...is the famed 'Super Dimensional Fortress
Macross' Series. Otherwise known to Americans as
"Robotech".
Speed Racer, Gigantor, Voltron, & Transzor Z were also popular series that got Anime off to a good start in the U.S.
Then U.S. shows started to get the Japanese to help with their shows. Like ThunderCats, SilverHawks, Galaxy Rangers, Bionic Six, etc.
Then you got your Hentai/Ecchi or "Adult Anime" flicks out there giving Anime a Bad Name. So lots of folks sterotype anime as being nothing but Sex and Violence all the time.
But I Love Anime & it's appeal. No matter what most people think, it's just plain different & extraordinary in it's own way. And as for the sterotype, you just have to know which ones to watch to really enjoy it's beauty & power.
But most Anime today is pretty unoriginal and uninspired.
It seems that alot of anime nowadays are all about ripping off from one another, and using the same plots, etc. And alot of the newer ones usually have a crappy and anti-climatic ending as well. Something that I really hate.
So you have to be careful of which ones to watch if you're looking for a good anime experience. If you're New to Anime...Perhaps you might wanna start off with the titles I have on my page & some of the good ol' original stuff that shaped Anime into what it is today.
Titles like Inuyasha, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, Record of Lodoss War, Vision of Escaflowne, and Cowboy Bebop are some of the best ones out there. And they make great ways to get introduced into anime.
