There was a time
When you had no boundaries
The world was your playground
Nothing held you back
No one ruled you
It was a wondrous existence
Of perpetual fun and games
There was nothing the trickster
Could not or would not do
Mortal or fae
None were immune to your jests
Then you were told to leave this mortal realm
To return to that magical island
To remain with your people
But you did not listen.
How could you?
You could not bear to be
Away from those mortals
You had come to love
So you ignored the summons
You betrayed your lord and master,
For those mortals.
Those foolish, foolish mortals.
Now you are forever banished
Your fair blue eyes shall never
See the beautiful landscape
That is the land of your birth
Never again will you frolic among
The ever-blooming flowers
Playing a cheerful tune on your precious flute
Never again to be among your own kind
Eternally bound to a human
Stripped of your powers
You have lost everything
And as you live this mortal existence
You often wonder
Was it worth all this?
Was it?
