3650 Days

Seems only yesterday that I was watching the broadcast of Hong Kong's return to China, when in fact yesterday I was watching the celebration of the 10th aniversary of Hong Kong's return to China.

Watching the variety show to celebrate the 10th aniversary alone really make you feel Hong Kong did not change much during these 10 years, especially when the same 4 Heavenly Kings appeared together, without significant changes in their appearances or singing styles.

When I visited Hong Kong in the late 90s, a taxi driver told me that Hong Kong is a city with rapid changes. Things that you find in Hong Kong 1 year ago will most probably be gone now. So it's a wonder that some things can remain the same for so long.

I guess most people hate changes, as people will always say they miss something in the past. One of my friends would always say she miss Leon's 1995 or 1997 concert, another would say she miss those food sold on push-carts in the streets. I myself, miss a lot of things, including those days where there was no GST (Goods & Services Tax) in Singapore (1 July 2007 is also the day when GST increases from 5% to 7% in Singapore).

What can you do when you miss something that is already gone? Nothing, because it is already gone. What you can do is only to treasure what you have/can do in the present. In case it will be gone tomorrow, you'd still have a nice memory of it.
