THEODORE'S ALBUMS

Theodore recorded TWO albums, both very rare and expensive. They are "Entertainment of Sinister and Disconcerting Humor" (released in both ten inch and twelve inch formats) and "Theodore (in Stereo)." A 45 rpm single was released by PIP (PIP 8918) featuring a beatnik-drum version of Lisolotta Binde (which is loosely based on Poe's "Berenice") backed with I'm Just Plain Folks, which is basically a mini-monologue featuring some of his more infamous lines. It was played at his funeral.

On CD, Theodore's re-telling of "Berenice" (originally on the Coral album) is available on a Rhino compilation called "Scary Stories," a peculiar compilation of mostly straight (and mostly Poe) tales. If you are feeling peevish, contact Rhino, Varese Sarabande and Razor & Tie and demand that they re-issue Theodore's work, and send Royalty Checks.

Information about these records, as well as disks by all kinds of cult comedians (Lord Buckley, Bob Peck, Eddie Lawrence, Tom Lehrer, Lenny Bruce, Mort Sahl, Murray Roman, Shelley Berman and other "sickniks") can be found in "Goldmine's Comedy Record Price Guide." Browse it at your bookstore, order it through an Internet book company, or contact the publisher: Krause Publishing, 800-258-0929. The 400 page book lists and annotates every comedy record, including all the dark and sinister ones. It is highly reccomended by this website, which of course, hardly matters at all on Earth's hill of beans. 1
