My VeggieTale Reviews
*= good
***= great
*****= terrific!!
Please don't make any buying decisions based on this rating system.
These are just my opinions and I have seen different oppinions expressed
on other pages. All in all I think the whole series is excellent and a
good value in teaching and entertainment.
I have not had the priviledge to view all the VeggieTale
videos but I will do my best to give you an accurate report on the episodes
I've seen. If a quote is linked it means you can listen to it in wav. format.
#1 Where is God When I'm Scared?
This video has two stories on it and it is one of
my family's favorites. In Tales From the Crisper five year old Jr.
Asparagus watches a scary Frankencelery movie and has to to go to bed scared.
Bob and Larry come to the rescue with a peppy song to brighten up the night
for Junior and teach him that God is in control. Beware, this song is so
catchy you'll be singing it for days but it's what makes this story very
entertaining.

My favorite quotes:
"I'm Bob, I'm a tomato and I'm here to help you!"-
Bob the Tomato
"I love you Little Mister" -Dad to Junior
"I love you BIG Mister."- Junior to Dad
Daniel and the Lion's Den is another favorite
VeggieTales story of ours. There is a lot of humor involved in teaching
this Bible story and yet another example that shows God is in control.
The song that the wisemen sing is excellent. Pay attention during this
story, there is a lot of subtle humor.
Silly Songs With Larry features The Water Buffalo
Song.

My favorite quotes:
"So, you guys are wise men. Have you always been
wise?"- Daniel
"Thanks for the pizza!"- Daniel
#2 God Wants Me to Forgive Them?
This video also has two stories in it. In the first
story, The Grapes of Wrath, we learn a lesson in forgiveness. The
Grapes of Wrath are a cantankerous family of grapes who make life rough
for Junior Asparagus. Junior learns to forgive them and this teaches the
grapes a lesson. They, too, become better grapes because of Junior's example.

The second story on this video is Larry's Lagoon.
This story is a parody of Gilligans Island. We have Larry driving the boat
and his vivid cucumber brain starts day-dreaming. Larry forgets what he
is doing and crashes the boat into some rocks. Every one gets to shore
safely but a lesson in forgiveness is in order. The Skipper is played by
Bob. The Howells are played very well by the asparagus'. The professor
(played by another asparagus) comes to the rescue in a helicopter made
of bamboo and coconuts.

#3 Are You My Neighbor?
This video is also a family favorite but it is mostly
because of the second story on the tape. The first story is a parody of
the Good Samaritan story set in a world of Dr Seuss. In Tale of Two
Cities we find the citizens of Flibber-o-loo and Jiberty-lot at odds
with one another until an unfortunate Larry falls into the hands of a band
of robbers who take his milk money and leave him stranded in a hole. He
gets rescued by Junior Aspragus and the two cities are reconciled and live
happily ever after.

In the Gourds Must Be Crazy we have a parody
of Star Trek. Junior Asperagus comes to the rescue of the USS Applepies
which is going to be smashed to bits by an infamous popcorn bomb meteor.
The characters and humor in this story make it one of our favorites but
there is also a lesson in accepting others even if they are different from
us.

Silly Songs With Larry features the Hairbrush
Song- cucumber opera at its finest.
My Favorite Quotes:
"There it is, the USS Applepies. When we get on
board you'll be briefed by the ship's engineer. Scooter."-Bob to Junior
"A popcorn bomb meteor," (Junior) "the
worst kind!" (Bob) " Would that be carmel or cheese? Because I don't
like that cheese stuff very much. It gets stuck in my tooth." (Larry)
"It makes precious little difference when it hits you at 5,000 miles
per hour!" (Scooter in a Scottish accent) "Good point." (Larry)
"You're telling me saving 364 lives by rapidly
consuming 14,000 metric tons of popcorn is nothin'?!" (Scooter)
#4 Rack, Shack & Benny
Rack, Shack and Benny is a re-telling of the story
about Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego from the Bible. Set in a futuristic day
chocolate factory; Rack, Shack and Benny learn to stand up for what is
right; and Nebby K. Nezzer learns that doing right is always the right
thing to do.
Silly Songs With Larry features The Dance of the
Cucumber in its original Spanish. Bob the tomato translates but gets
more than he bargained for when he becomes part of the song.

#5 Dave and the Giant Pickle
Video #5 is a re-telling of David and Goliath. The
theme is that little guys can do big things too. Again, watch for the subtle
humor in this one. The characterization is good in this one too.
Silly Songs With Larry features I Love My Lips-
a family favorite and definitely silly

#6 Larry Boy and the Fib from Outer Space
In this episode we learn that a lie can get really
big, really fast; and Junior learns his lesson well when Fibrilious Minimous,
his little fib, gets out of hand. In this episode we see Larry as Larry
Boy the plunger-headed super hero (although he really doesn't accomplish
much in the story). Still, if it weren't for him, Alfred wouldn't have
come up with the solution to get rid of the lie that is loose in Bumblyburg.
In this parody of Batman there is a lot of humor but not much music. Silly
songs with Larry is missing but we get a glimpse of a Larry's new Music
Video at the end of the story which kind of makes up for it.

My favorite quotes:
"Aren't you wired? online? surfin' the web? HTML,
good buddy." - Larry
"You are so early 90's"- Larry to Bob
"The security of Bumblyburg
rests in your...plungers."- Alfred
"I hope the rest of Bumblyburg is having a better
day than I am....Alfred I've got work to do, consider our game postponed."-
Larry Boy
"There's only one thing left to do... What I should
have done all along... Super Suction Ears Away!!"- Larry Boy
"Boot, you transistorized
tormentor, BOOT!"- Alfred
"I AM GOING TO DIE!" - Larry-Boy
"Doesn't it just warm your heart and it's all
because of one man, one plunger headed hero, always there when Bumblyburg
needs him... Larry Boy?...Oh, there he goes again."- Scooter
"Larry Boy mania is sweeping the nation. If you're
not on board you're gonna miss the train."-Larry
"I AM THAT HERO!" - Larry-Boy
A Very Silly Sing-Along
With all the music involved in VeggieTales a sing-along
video was inevitable. This is another one of my family's favorites but
when we watch it we hear VeggieTales echoing about the house for weeks
afterwards. By far our favorite songs are I Love My Lips and the
Pirates that Don't do Anything. Larry provides entertaining side
comments as he is a little confused about just what kind of a video the
vegetables are making. Is it a work-out video? A do-it-yourself video?
The music is great and the video is very entertaining.

The Toy that Saved Christmas
The Toy that Saved Christmas teaches the meaning
of Christmas. There is a town full of selfish children until one of Wally
K. Nezzer's toys decides to change the way the kids in the town think about
Christmas. The toy is Buzzsaw Louie and he, Bob, Larry and Junior set out
to change the spirit of Christmas. All ends happily after a cliff hanger
ending.
Silly Songs with Larry features Oh Santa.

Josh And the Big Wall
Watch out! The slushies are flying in this parody
of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho. Joshua is played by Larry, the cucumber
and he is in charge of bringing the children of Israel into the Promised
Land. The only problem is that the city of Jericho stands in the way and
it is full of slushie throwing peas. What are Josh and the rest of the
vegetables going to do? Some one comes up with a plan to build a giant
rocket and wipe out the peas but God has a stranger, yet better, idea that
takes a little more work and dodging but nonetheless accomlishes the task.
Silly Songs with Larry features The Song of the
Cebu. What's a Cebu? you may ask. Well, it's kind of like a cow and
kind of like a little waterbuffalo. Hmm, strange song, catchy music!

Madame Blueberry
In this video Larry and Bob play a pair of trusty
butlers to Madame Blueberry. But something is wrong, Madame is not happy.
She decides that the thing that will make her happy is to have all the
things her neighbors do and more. Bob and Larry know that things can't
make us happy but they are outnumbered by Madame Blueberry and some nervy
salesmen. The salesmen convince Madame that only a shopping trip to
the new Stuffmart down the street will sooth Madame's frayed nerves. And
indeed, the stuffmart has almost everything Madame could want. All her
shopping puts her home in great danger (too-much-stuffitis?) and some happy
hearted kids teach Madame a very important lesson. Does Madame lose her
house? What lesson does Madame learn? Go get this next Veggie Tales video
and find out.
After the Song of the Cebu, Dr Archibald decided
to cancel Silly Songs With Larry until further notice. So on this video
we have Love Songs With Mr Lunt. Mr Lunt sings a love song about a ...
cheeseburger.
You'll be singing I'm so Blue for hours but
at least you won't be blue.
