The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Mark Twain a.k.a. Samuel L. Clemens 319 including Conclusion Twain, Mark. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. New York: Scholastic Inc., 1990 Adventure 6th grade to 12th grade Tom Sawyer lives in Missippi with his Aunt. He befriends the town's "bad boy" Huckleberry Finn, and goes on marvelous adventures. He runs away with Huck and Joseph Harper as a pirate and his family thinks he has drowned. They come back and realize how much they mean to other people. A few weeks later Huck and Tom witness a murder in the graveyard and promise not to tell. Tom ends up telling under oath and the killer, Injun Joe, escapes. Tom and Huck also find that Joe wants revenge and has found a treasure and has hidden it in and abbandoned hotel room. Wherever there's trouble, that's where you'll find Tom Sawyer. I loved this book. I recomend it to any sex between the ages of 11 and 18. Younger readers can read it if they choose, but the vocabulary is fairly difficult. What adds even more to the story is the accents Twain gives to all of the characters. It's hard when you start out to understand what they're saying, but it gets easier as you go along. |
