At left is the ever popular fighter of choice for the Rebel Alliance, Incom Corporation's X-wing. (Close-ups can be found here and here.) So named for the shape that it's wings form during battle, the X-wing is the fighter of choice for any rebel who wishes to do battle with most anything the Empire can throw at them. At center, we can see the dae-glo orange flight suits that pilots of both X-wings and Y-wings wore. This suit helped to give them life support and assistance in other ways to deal with situations that might come up during flight. (I think they also dealt with any G-Forces that might be present in atmosphere flight, but I can't be sure.) To the right, (almost unseeable, due to shadows and size) is the Y-wing. (Click here to see a close-up.) This old bomber ship has seen better days. But, that doesn't take the powerful edge off her one bit. Sure, they may respond like "a sleepy Hutt" in flight, but their tough armor more than makes up for it. And, the bomb payload they can carry can (if used right) do considerably far more damage to targets than multiple strife sweeps by laser cannon equipped fighters. And, if challenged by air assault, it can fire back with a somewhat delicate turrent-mounted ion cannon. However, the Alliance has put the Y-wing into survice for much more than just bombing missions, making it quite the useful multi-purpose vehicle. Pictured in the background (for a backdrop to the display) we see Luke, still suited, standing on top of his "landed" X-wing, in the middle of Dagobah's swampland. (Final homestead of Yoda.)
